Booster Needs

Thanks to all who have donated to our ongoing concession stand fundraiser, and brought in coolers and a rolling cart! Your donations help us support the band.

The boosters are always in need of:

  • Bottled water
  • Canned soda, gatorade, or other single-serving beverages
  • Individually-packaged, single-serving chips, candy, and other snacks for the concession stand
Please mark all donations with student’s name and grade so we can properly tally. Top donors win the opportunity to pie a director in the face at the end of the season!

New this week – Ms. Crystal, our booster president, has put herself on the block! If the boosters receive 12 large multi-pack boxes of chips, and 400 bottles/cans of soda before the next home game (10/15), the top donor over the next two weeks wins the chance to pie her in the face!

Volunteers

Many thanks to our volunteers who keep the band fed and hydrated while we’re on the move! Thanks especially to Ms. Tran, Ms. Boggan, and Ms. McLain who led a group fitting and hemming uniforms; and Mr. Hunzeker who led a separate crew building our new sideline panels.

Bye week

No football this week means no morning rehearsals Thursday or Friday. Instead, we will add:

Thursday 5-7 PM – J block only

Friday 5-7 PM – Varsity (including percussion) only

Uniforms

Uniform bibber pants should be washed weekly. Jackets can be washed as needed. Wash cold on gentle cycle, dry low, hang up.

All students should bring their bibber pants to school on Monday to check hems.

If you have any other uniform issues that we could not correct on Friday, please bring your washed uniform to school Monday.

Competition

This week is our first marching competition! We need parents in the stands to cheer on your students! Our first performance on Saturday is at 3:30 PM. We will find out our finals performance time when awards are announced at 4:45 (will be somewhere between 6:30-9:00 PM).

Booster Needs

Our band booster parents are hard at work supporting your students! They are in need of 4 new rolling coolers and a utility cart. If you have something like this that you can donate, please bring to the band hall. For any questions or clarification please contact Lorna Tran (lotran914@gmail.com) or Crystal Hamilton (goodbyu81@yahoo.com).

Grades

Texas regulations require that bands follow No Pass, No Play rules. Any student who fails a class on their report card becomes ineligible on Friday at the end of the school day. Ineligible students are not allowed to participate in any games or contests with the band. Ineligible students are required to attend all rehearsals and will have alternate assignments for game performances. Students can re-gain their eligibility if they pass all classes on the next progress report.

Amazon performance

The MEB has been invited to perform for the opening of the new Amazon delivery center this Wednesday. This performance includes only student leadership and selected drumline members. Students will be excused from 2nd-5th periods. Attire is show shirt and jeans.

Volunteers

The MEB needs you! We rely on parent volunteers to help get the band on and off the field quickly (Pit Crew), and staff the concession stand and merch table at home games.

Volunteers receive free entry into the game (subject to host school rules) and entry into an end-of-season drawing for a Visa gift card.

We had a great time at the Weatherford game Friday, and UNT on Saturday (even if that event was cut short). Students have definitely earned their long weekend!

Fundraise Genius logo

With 2 days left to go, we’ve raised nearly $5000 on Fundraise Genius! Our current lead fundraiser is Aidan Tran, with over $760 raised.

https://fundraisegenius.com/crowley-band

All funds raised support the CHS Band Booster, which supports the band throughout the year.

It’s not too late to get in on the action – log in to Fundraise Genius to upload your contacts who you think might financially support the Mighty Eagle Band. Our goal is 5 donors per student, but the more you list, the more money we can bring in! All funds raised will go to the Band Booster to help support the band. If we meet our goal of $10,000 raised, the top fundraiser student gets to take the clippers to Mr. Dunning’s head!

We still need several parent volunteers to assist Friday night at the CHS/NCHS game. We specifically need:

  • Pit crew – meet the band just before halftime, assist moving equipment onto the field for the show and back off. Very short job, and a great seat for the show!
  • Concession stand – two different shifts available. Football concessions are a huge part of our fundraising activities for the year.

All volunteers receive free entry to the game, and will be entered into a drawing for a Visa gift card at the end of the season.

Volunteer opportunities are posted to Charms. For more information, contact volunteer coordinator Lorna Tran at lotran914@gmail.com.
